Website Building Story
My team’s baseball coach asked us if we knew anybody that could make a website for the team. He wanted to build a site to show off the teams statistics. Our coach Larry thought that our site should have full animation so that it could impress site visitors. Even though I can easily create websites, I didn’t want to tell him since I knew it would lead to me doing free labor. Unfortunately my friend Jack decided to blurt out, “Chris knows how to build websites”. Of course I couldn’t lie and say that I couldn’t, so I ended up being stuck with the task.
Knowing that the coach didn’t have a large budget to work for, I decided to try and find a free web host and some discounted seo services. I’d use local Minneapolis seo services to keep seo costs down. I found some great blogging platforms, and built a site using Blogger. After showing the site to coach Larry I was kind of embarrassed. He didn’t want to offend me so he said it was good, but I could see in his eyes that he was not satisfied. I quickly let him know that this was just a temporary website and that the real thing would be built before the end of the month.
I went back to the drawing board to think about what kind of platform I could use to make a great site. After searching around the Internet I decided that the best way for me to make a great web site would be for me to use flash. Using this platform I could put in some fully animated graphics. In addition to this I could place in some video highlights of the team. I knew that the team would love to watch themselves playing.
After searching through the web I found an organization that hosted free flash sites. It only took me a few minutes to sign up and take a look at all of the functions of the site. This site was just what I needed. It took me another two weeks to get the site completely perfect but I am very proud of my work. I showed the coach and when he said it was great, this time I knew he truly meant it. After this we decided to use surgeseo.com to get the site listed. Coach Larry contacted a local seo company to get us search engine rankings.
After seeing the site, my buddy’s dad asked me to create a website for him. He said he’d pay me, but I think i’ll do it just for the fun of it.
